Allow us to introduce ourselves...
If Tae Kwon Do can be summed up in one word, it is this: self-improvement. To the novice, it may seem that Tae Kwon Do is simply a way of fighting, but this is not the case. Tae Kwon Do is a vehicle for discovering and developing the human potential. And that's why at World Tae Kwon Do Academy, we don't limit our approach to fighting or poom-sae (traditional forms). We teach a balance of both, combined with practical self-defense and life values. We hope that after every lesson you are more healthy--both physically and emotionally. I look forward to seeing your improvement as you begin this journey. -Grand Master Sun Mo Yi |
Grand Master Sun Mo Yi
In 1983, Grand Master Yi immigrated to the United States. He brought one suit case and a desire to bring the lessons of Tae Kwon Do to the United States. Since the 80's, Master Yi has run training sessions for the US military, opened a successful Dojang (Tae Kwon Do gym), and created an annual trip to South Korea where his students can visit the birthplace of Tae Kwon Do.
He initially moved to Colorado where he trained members of the American air force in hand-to-hand combat. He quickly opened World Tae Kwon Do Academy soon after, and he continues to run the business to this day. |
